Battle Born Ventures, LLC (BBV) recently attended a Career Exploration Summit hosted by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension for Lyon County. The summit was held at the Smith Valley High School near Wellington, Nevada. BBV spoke to students about some of the basic aspects of the land surveying profession, the importance of education, and answered questions about careers in land surveying and civil engineering. BBV also held a friendly competition where students performed some basic pacing exercises to establish their individual paces often used for estimating distances. At the culmination of the competition students were asked to determine the distance between our surveying instrument and our back sight. The top three estimates from students were rewarded generously with surveying gear and supplies donated by Monsen Engineering Supply of Reno.
